Yep, in addition to backpacking, I occasionally car camp too.
And when I don't have the chance to sleep outdoors, all my other nights I hammock camp in my bed room
I too will something make and joy in it's making

Yeah, one choice isn't enough. I do plenty of car and backyard camping testing various set-ups for when I go backpacking.
    I voted "Backpacking".
    Trust nobody!

Backpacking. I almost can't stand car camping anymore...gotta be out and away from the herd...

"I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful... because, in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience...." --Robert Traver

I could have swore that there was a thread just about HF members that rode motorcycles, but I'm not finding it.
A few that I remember were Pan, bhancock, & RAW. But there were more.

No doubt about it! Also, no car lights blinding you around the campfire as the folks take an hour to set up their tent for the first time!

Once I started backpacking, car camping become a little bit boring. I will still do a one night car camp locally when I'm desperate to get out and can't go backpacking.

I'd like to buy a kayak and do some hanging on the lakes and rivers. That would be an interesting kind of exploring.

    Good post!

I do a lot of Mtnbiking/kayaking but my main love is backpacking which i do year around here in VA/WV.
I also like being well off the beaten path with my hammock.

    Cool

    Kayak camping, mostly.

Second choice would be car camping.
