Will miss you Rockdawg. Breakfast just won't be the same! Glad you're on the trail to recovery. It's going to be so much better for you.

Y'all keep an eye out on the weather for Thomas Knob. It can get sporty up there.

Just a note about the mountain weather. Nothing feels better than overcoming the adversity of it. It's what many of our campfire tales came from. This weekend will be no different. I'm excited!
But at the same time, I think it's important to remind myself and everyone that we must PLAN to be safe. Prepare as much as possible. Go over it all in your mind and make lists. Pack ahead of time. Leave a day or two to remember those last minute items. Also, we are car camping (except for the TN group.) When in doubt, bring it! You'll be happy you did.
-Specifically, protection and insulation for HANDS! Then feet. Both must be dry. Head next and then torso. Need backups for all!
-Hydration! You'll be cold if you don't drink enough water.
-Eat for warmth. Your furnace runs on calories.
-Tarp and lots of tie outs. Bigger stakes. Extra line and rope. Wind will play havoc with both.
-Underquilt protector to stop the wind from robbing the heat from your sleep set.
-Hard shell to do the same for your body.
-Coolers and blankets to keep things from freezing.
-A FULL gas tank. It's the emergency warm spot.

Almost time to load 'em on the bus!

My girlfriend couldn't make it so we decided to camp at the group camp site this past weekend. It got down to 7 degrees and snowed for 2 days. It was her first time winter camping but did great! I'll be there again for the group hang.

I've been keeping an eye on this and still haven't made up my mind if I will come join you on Sat-Sun.
The one piece of gear I feel like I'm really missing is footwear.
I got rid of my ice fishing boots when I moved to NC.
Anybody have any warm-ish size 10 or 11 boots I can borrow for a day?
Or know where I can get something cheap in case this winter hanging doesn't stick with me?

Looks like we may get enough snow to bring the snowshoes. I'm not sure if I'm comfortable enough with my setup to do the overnight.
