I'm going to wait till we get word on the park closing before leaving. I've got an extra hammock and winter tarp packed if you still wanted to go. I could stop by and pick you up.

GHSP does not close.
Nor does it close trails. They did years ago but changed their policy.

They know you guys are coming so I'm sure they have the snow plow ready.

Poppins, I guarantee you are not the only one going to be there.

The parks phone & internet lines are out so you won't be able to call them but they are there.

Hey Kent....remember that time we were nipple deep in snow busting trail back there. In tents. I carried that reflector oven and we made pizzas. Good times. Have a right goodie and don't let your dobber down.

I've been in there many times in snow & always in a two wheel drive.
They will likely be plowing & replowing the roads so you are not likely to be driving in deep snow but a layer of packed snow.

The main thing is to have decent tires & an understanding of how to drive in the snow.

If anyone has some long boards, 1x's or 2x's, 8-10' long they could come in handy for supporting the tarps on the west side pavilion walls. Nails and a hammer. It'll help protect us from the strong gusts. Thanks!

I'm not sure that I would nail them to the posts (if anyone brings them) but I think I would lash them to the post.
Wouldn't take a lot to keep them there.
If no boards, tight rope would help.

Well, I'm definitely not going to be there in time for an overnight. I'll head down to the group camp when I get there, probably 3-4pm

I'm at the park. Roads are plowed. Highway 58 is 90% clear and salted well.
