I think you are on to something with this. I think this would work.

I have no intention of getting rid of mine. And there are over 200 others who have modified theirs with zipper mods that feel the same. And they are still coming!!

I prefer my HHULB with MOD over my WBBB at this point. Count me in for a pad pocket.

Something light with DWR would work for me.

I think I would vote for the full length with the slit sewed up. I love my ZQ mod, problem is I loaned my HH Exp to a fellow Corps of Insanity member and haven't gotten it back as of yet

I'm in for another mod. Let us know when you are ready for a pocket add.
I think the wider the better, 28-inches at least and full length. This would allow a thin ccf pad to fold up around the edge of the shoulders for most of us, cutting out some of the cold spots on the sides.

Just to throw this in the mix... I don't have a dedicated position I sleep in when I use the HH Exped. I have removed the bugnet long ago and I can sleep head or foot on either end. I was playing around with using a piece of 1.1 DWR a few months ago for a double bottom in it. It was pretty easy, I just made another hammock and whiped it to the Hennessey, the pads slid in very easily and stayed put. However, I didn't actually make sewn pockets to put the extra wings in and I still needed my SPE to contain everything, so I abandoned the idea. But for people who use a wide enough pad it is very easy to do.

Is there a reason you couldn't overlap the exit with velcro just like the hammock opening is? It seems like you could just pull the two pieces of foam apart and slide right out. The other thing I thought about was "Tabs" that would come up inside of the regular opening but would have opposite Velcro so when you would get in and out just like you normally would?
