Come out and help me celebrate my 49th birthday(Jan. 5th), as well as bring in 2016 in style! Green Swamp West, has become one of my favorite hikes, with some of the most beautiful scenery in Florida. We will meet up at the McNeil trailhead on SR 471 and hike to the Gator Hole campsite, Friday night. Saturday will be the long 12+ mile trek to the Foster Bridge camp, to the north, so eat your Wheaties fellas!!

Sunday we will make the 6.5 mile(approx.) hike back to the trailhead at Ranch Rd. and car pool back to the McNeil trailhead. I have already secured the permits for the sites and will make copies to leave on the windshield of my truck for everyone. Happy Birthday to you, Ron. That's also my son's birthday, so I will not be able to make it. I hope you get a great turnout, though.

Also, I need to talk to you more about hiking with your puppy as we got a service dog recently. See you at HangCon.

No problem. I have only done a couple short hikes with her, but she seems to love it. I won't bring her on this one, as I think that's too far to travel with her. She will most likely be with me at HangCon, though. See you there!

I plan to make this hike. I am planning on arriving at the trail head in the afternoon and then hike in and meet everyone at the Gator Hole campsite. I have never been to the Green Swamp, so I am looking forward to this.

Knife, for sure. Pine needle bed, never again. Too many creepy crawlies that ground close to the ground. Plus the fact that there is no better sleep than the one experienced last Saturday night. OD'ed on good bourbon and good friends.
