If you're ever a little closer to Florida I'd backpack with ya. Maybe Conecuh national forest?

Depends on the weather Campalot but I would be interested. I would have to come out Saturday afternoon but it depends on the temps and whether it stays above 40 degrees.

Are you a fast, strong, hiker? I'm a not so in shape newbie w/ great enthusiasm and a slow but steady attitude. You can ask the guys that were on the group hang for a referral, if you like.
I'd hate to slow you down, but would appreciate having someone to tag a long with. I still don't trust myself to plan a trip and execute it without getting lost. I'm reading a book about Sipsey and the history is so rich!
I'd be coming from B'ham and could get there Sat. Morn.

I respect your right to say "no, thank you".

    Thanks,
    Charlotte

Charlotte, if your interested I will be going to sipsey February 7-10 leaving the the 11th if your interested. I will have a few other guys coming up and meeting at different times and different parts of the trail. Some guys are as young as 20 and some are as old as 65 with varying degrees of experience. So hiking speed and experience wouldn't matter at all.

Campalot- are y'all still planning to hike next weekend? I'll pm you my info so we can coordinate. If the weather is like today, it should be great.

    Thanks, Charlotte
