    Lazy Slug or Big Bishop?

I'm thinking about making up "one thing to hold them all" (shades of LOTR)
(hammock, UQ, TQ, Pillow, etc that is)
But I'm dithering about whether to make a big ol' Black Bishop bag or a Lazy Slug.
    Relative merits/demerits?

The Lazy Slug Tube is wider at one end and it makes it a little easier to get started stuffing. It's basically a large bishop bag anyway. Thing is, when you put a bunch of stuff in there, hammock, top quilt, under quilt, under quilt protector, top cover or net, pillow, etc. it whole thing can be an effort to stuff down into a reasonable size.

There is so much trapped air and most stuff sacks, though perhaps breathable, don't allow you to easily compress everything down. The other issue is moisture getting trapped, especially if you are camping in sub freezing or near freezing weather that sees a lot of condensation on the gear.

Doesn't matter whether you go LST or oversized Bishop Bag, same issues.

What I do like is the super easy/quick setup. Tree strap around the tree, click the biner, walk to the other tree, wrap and click, done. Take down is almost as easy. So for quick overnights, I love it. Winter camping, love it.

Have thought about making one out of netting material to make it easier to compress. Don't get me wrong, you can still compress it and it's easy enough to shove in a pack partially compressed and just press it into the pack. Works fine so long as you have everything else in the pack already. And if stuff is wet, you'll want to leave it separate, say like the under quilt protector.

I use a bishop bag on several hammocks and it works well, like it better than a regular stuff sack for sure. Like the bishop bag big enough to hold the bug net and under quilt protector if I want. Always tag the head or foot end of the bags, as well as the hammock, just makes it that much easier for fast setup in the dark or wet weather.

If I had to choose only one, I'd go with a LST because the under quilt is already attached. Saves time with fiddling after the hammock is hung.

    Definitely LazySlugTube !
    Ratdog's right.
When open, the LST gives you a storage shelf to leave "stuff" up off the ground.

Hmm, I'm leaning towards the LST, I declare.

Initially I was considering a two part LST (a la Wilderness Logics), but I'm liking the one-piece idea.
And mesh sounds like a good option. Originally I was thinking Sil, for weather/dirt protection, but I guess it will be going from a waterproof pack-liner to under a tarp, so not really necessary; and the mesh will aid compression. After all, weighing it up; it's organisation, rather that protection, I'm after.

I've been using a XL large lazy slug tube that doubles as a close fitting sock to keep the wind off, it's much easier than a bishop bag which was always my go to storage. I've never used the proper original lazy slug tube though
Success doesn't come to you, you go to it.

This makes me think about Dutch's Argon Vented Sock to use as a LST/Hammock Sock. It has the gear/element protection of the argon material, but also the noseeum at the head end or full body to allow air escape for compression. I think it could work well for what you are suggesting.
