Could you please tell me how to search for multiple words in the search window? For instance if I wanted to look up "winter sock", how do I enter the topic without returning searches for both "winter" and "sock"? Thanks

Go into the Advanced search (under the regular search box), type your term in quotes in the keywords box, select Titles Only, search.
Try typing "winter sock" with the quotes in the search box.

Your best option is to go to the Home menu option within HF, then look for the Google search. You can use quotes there like "Winter sock". Or you can do it direct from google itself once you see the syntax.
As you have found, you can't search on HF via Advanced Search for multiple items with quotes unless you restrict your search to the "Title only" option. i.e., "Wintre Sock" finds all things with Wintre & sock.
I always preferred the way google lays out the results. You can type this into Google and search:
site:www.hammockforums.net "winter sock"
Nevermind, I've been overlooking this the whole time! That's the "new thing" I learned today!
There's all kinds of tricks you learn if you have to search for specific things often. If there's something on the forum your looking for specifically, you definitely want to limit results to within the forum as described.
Plus, if you look hard enough on Google's help system, Google has all sorts of key words and special tricks you can use for limiting searches, not to mention the various "easter eggs" which while not usually very useful, are certainly amusing
If I can limit to a sub-forum (DIY, for example), I search with the forum search tools. For more general searches, I always use google like this:
"site:hammockforums.net [your search here]"
Oh yes, and changing up your wording usually does the trick... As long as you can think of the most effective phrase. For instance, look up a related phrase, that only would appear along with the term you're looking for. "Winter sock" would include mostly apparel, which also would be a more popular search topic, and so would be given higher priority. THAT is what you have to defeat for a successful search
Thanks, everyone!
