    Adding CF Doors

I am considering adding doors to my CF tarp. I have never had a tarp with doors before and had a couple of questions. Is there a standard pattern for tarp doors? Should the doors be designed to have some overlap? What is the best way to hold the doors closed?

    Thanks,
    Farmer Ron

I would follow the grizz beak pattern for removable doors. It allows the doors to seal over/around the tarps edges and leaves a gap for the hammock suspension. Look also at the winter tarp designs and you'll see how the door "panels" are longsided triangles. 2qZq make beaks, if your looking for pre-made?

If you are doing sewn-on/taped-on doors, then set up the tarp and pull a few measurements. You can seal the doors by either crossing the door panels or apply Velcro/snaps to the edge.

    Cuben or sil?
Most doors are simple overlaps, with a bit of shockcord tied off to the tarp's opposite side or staked down.

+1 to gargoyle's advice above, but I would go a bit further and actually mock up a set out of a shower curtain or plastic drop cloth or tyvek. The fit can be a bit tricky. I made a set for my edge tarp and on the first set, the outer, lower corner ended up being too long, making it difficult to get a tight seal. I solved it by tying a knot in the corner fabric to shorten it. Also make 1 end at a time so you can modify your design.
