    Tablecloth Hammock

I do not need any info on making or completing this simple project, I am just curious as to what these usually weigh? I obviously don't want you to include your suspension or anything, basically just the body of the 60"x126" crinkle taffeta body (so, basically just the tablecloth.) I would like to make one of these just because, but only if the weight comes in at a decent weight.

The 60x126 crinkle taffeta is right at 1 lb. I've made quite a few of them; they are comfortable. 1 con to them though is they don't pack down as well as most others.

Thanks for the response. I won't make one then right now. I'll either make a hammock out of a different fabric or I will buy another from Dutch.

I highly encourage them for a practice build if nothing else. Mistake are cheap and they make good loaner hammocks. My 15 year old son just completed his including the knotty mods.

What would you say is the weight limit on one of these TC hammocks?
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

    Tablecloth Hammock

I have a 132x90 taffeta that has had just over 300# in it for short periods. we felt completely safe...

Incidentally, it weighs about 28oz including suspension. It's the most comfortable hammock I own.

Interesting, I had no idea it would go that high. That's a huge hammock too!

Maybe I should build one. The hammock blanks (aka tablecloths) are super cheap but the shipping is nearly as much as the product itself so I might as well grab a few tablecloths due to that fact.

I was thinking the same thing. Just need to hide them from the wife. For some reason she doesn't see the need for more hammocks. It would be nice to find a local supplier.

I've had 400+ lbs in one for a couple of hours.
