    11.5 foot hammocks?

Do any of you have experience with an 11.5 foot gathered end hammock? I'm 6'2" and have an 11ft hammock and am curious to find out if an 11.5 footer would give me just that extra bit of space that I feel like I'm missing from an 11 footer on the diagonal lay.

Anybody used 11 foot ridgeline tarps on 11.5 foot hammocks? It looks like 83% of 11.5 foot is around 9.5 feet. So I assume the tarp coverage would be ok?

Maybe making the hammock wider would work? Seems to me to get a more diagonal lay you would want a wider hammock.

If you use a structural channel end hammock, you can use a mini spreader bar and a 18" CL for your suspension. The mini spreader bar will spread the end of the hammock as if you had 3" to 6" additional length without having to buy another hammock.

Or, you can just get another hammock. Can't have too many in my opinion.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you

I have an 11 1/2 foot gathered end nylon hammock and an 11 foot Dutch Argon hammock. I'm only 5'9" but I can't really feel any differences due to the extra 6" in length (both hammocks are 60" wide). I use them both often (swapping during laundry time so 50/60+ nights a year each).

You could go to Walmart and buy 4 1/2 yards of material out of the sale bin and try different lengths for cheap. My 11 1/2 footer used 4 yards of $1.50/yd nylon and it is almost 4 years old with heavy use (but I don't trust it for backpack trips).

I've got a 10' tarp I've sometimes used on my 11' hammock. Straight down coverage is there, but I wouldn't want to use that configuration unless I had doors to block windblown rain from the ends.

Could you provide more info on what the 'structural channel end hammock' is please.

For me 10.5 feet and 60 inches is most comfortable. I've tried from 9 to 12 feet. I'm 6 ft. That really has no bearing on you, except to say try different things and find what works for you.

I think you would be fine in most weather with the 11 ft tarp.

+1 on this. I am 6'3 and my 11 footer was made from the 1.6 HyperD XL. The extra width really does make a difference.
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.

You also need to confirm how the length of the hammock is measured. They may not always be equal. One manufacturer may list an 11ft which is closer to 11.5ft for another. Something to consider.
