    Which fabric?

Hey y'all, I'm getting ready to order a Sparrow. My one hangup is which material to go with. It'll either be the 1.6 HyperD in dark olive with an AOR2 top cover, or the 1.9 Multicam on both. It'll be a single layer.

How much difference is there in comfort and weight between the two? I really like the multicam, but everything I've seen of the HyperD makes that a winner (HyperD is available in woodland camo, but I'm not a fan of that pattern). Thoughts?

    Thanks!

I'm a fan of Hyper D 1.6. It has a nice soft feel for comfort but it's very tough. You are going to love the sparrow!!

Difference in the weight of the fabric is (1.9 - 1.6) oz/yd * 4 yds = 1.2 oz. I don't know the size of that hammock, maybe less than 4 yds in it, so let's say 1 oz, simple enough.

I have some 1.6 HyperD stuff sacks and made a 1.9 hammock...The 1.6 is much softer and feels better to me.

I was never uncomfortable in my 1.9 hammock, but I recently made a 1.6 HyperD hammock, and the difference in feel is significant to me. Even more comfortable and nice to the touch. I guess in my modest opinion, after you get an underquilt on it and throw a tarp over it, how much do you really see of the hammock anyway? I fuss over color, don't get me wrong, but feel comes first.

Comfort or color. Which between these matters most to you when you close your eyes and get still?

I have a Darien 1.6 in dark olive in the queue, #3000. Having not received it I can't speak on the fabric but I can on the color. My WL top quilt is dark olive. That is the coolest color I have ever seen. Out of direct light it is brown. In direct light it is green. It's pretty cool stuff and I really like it.

Thanks for the comments. I ended up putting plans on hold for a bit. I was ready to jump on it, but the lead time was going to cause a problem with my next trip date. So I ended up using my budget to upgrade my insulation from a pad and bag to a UQ/TQ combo. I have some decent hammocks, so that wasn't a necessity yet. As soon as I'm able, the Sparrow will be in my shopping cart. Although, with the release of Canterbury's recommendation, I bet there's a jump in production, and they will go to a 3-month lead time! LOL!
