Approximately 26 miles, 3 nights, I'm thinking around 10 am on the third. (Thursday)

I'm gonna do this in a day in May, so thought a nice, slow, scenic hike would be perfect. How many miles a day? Who knows. We may go about eight each day, we may do ten, zero, ten, six, it's whatever mood strikes us. Squid may have a plan, but 👉this guy👈 is winging it. I just want to camp somewhere gorgeous each night.

    Pinhoti Sections 5 & 6, 26.8 rocky miles. http://www.pinhotitrailalliance.org/...t-guides..html

Glad you will be joining us, Campalot! I guess we will meet sometime Thursday March 3rd at The Cheaha Trailhead, where we will finish the hike. Depends on when y'all can get there, I'm only about an hour away.

    Directions to Cheaha TH

    CHEAHA TRAILHEAD
Exit I-20 at US 431, east of Oxford, AL.
Go south 3.4 miles to the second right turn past the overhead bridge at the top of the ridge. Turn
right (there is a brown Cheaha State Park sign here).
Go 0.4 miles to the stop sign at AL 281. Turn left.
Go 11.5 miles to the Cheaha Trailhead parking area, on the left

I'm looking at being there around 10am Thursday unless we need an earlier start. As you know this area the best, I will defer to your preference.

Have to drop the wife and kids off at the airport at 5:00 and will be heading that way from there . Think it will take me about four hours to drive to the trailhead . Just let me know where to meet up .

I'm gonna say we follow squids directions to Cheaha. We can meet there and just take one car to porters gap. That sounds like the easiest way. I'm about five hours away myself, so it seems we'll be on the road at about the same time.

A popular loop is to take the trail from Adams Gap to Lake Chinnabi, then the Chinnabi trail back to the Pinhoti.

Like BOG said, the above directions are the easiest route to go. It will take you right to Cheaha Trailhead.
Which airport? The reason I ask is: If it's Chattanooga, you may as well meet me in Gadsden. You could leave your vehicle at my house. If Nashville or B'ham: never mind, just take I-65 to I-20.

Looking forward to it. It's been a while since I've done section 5. I'm not packed yet, but the most important pieces are already in the truck!

If you need to make a last chance stop for supplies or anything else for that matter: WalMart Supercenter-Oxford/Anniston - exit 185 or Target-Oxford -exit 188. Lots of food and fuel choices too.

This is the last urban area, nothing at exit 191. One small store at the turn onto Al 281, and a small, overpriced store at Cheaha State Park.
