    Omaha Hanger, Looking for Others

Greetings from Papillion, NE, or Omaha, NE, depending who you ask. I've only been using a hammock for camping for a short time, but have been camping since just after birth, thanks to my father. I currently only hike/camp solo or with my brother. Our locations are limited in our area, but we are finding more and more places all the time. If there are others in the area looking for some others to join them on any outings, let me know. My brother and I do a lot of hiking into places such as Indian Cave, and we also go on multi-day kayak trips beginning North of Omaha and floating down to Louisville, using the hammocks along the bank as we go. I am amazed at all the information available here, and I'm learning something new every day.

Hi from Iowa. We get over there a few times a year. We have friends in Glenwood, right across the border on the Iowa side. Haven't gone hiking or camping over there though, I'd imagine there's quite a few spots if you are willing to drive a little ways?

Welcome to the forum. Check out the 'Trip Planning' section. I think a group hang near Lincoln is being planned for early April.

Hi! Omaha resident here. Check out alltrails.com for some good trails and hang spots. There aren't a ton of options for hanging around here, but any place that allows primitive camping AKA backcountry camping is hammock-friendly. My favorite testing ground is the hitchcock nature center. There's not a lot of trail (several miles), but it's pretty and good for an overnighter or weekend trip. There are more options if you're willing to drive 60-90 minutes.

My brother has mentioned Hitchcock. Do any of the trails go near a water source? We have been hauling water in and now have a sawyer mini system. If water is near, we could save a good amount of weight.

    Here's a map: http://www.pottcoconservation.com/Po...etterSize_.pdf
There's a couple of water sources near the top of the map. Of course, this time of year there's snow everywhere, so you can just melt that instead.
