    How's it made?

Just received my order from Dutch today. As I was looking at my new Stingerz, hooks, Tarpworms, and carabiner I got to wondering what is the manufacturing process to make these little things. Are they stamped, cast, or laser cut out of blocks of titanium? If it's not revealing any secrets, how are they made?

Also there are a few tiny burs. What's the best way to smooth those off?

Waterjet I'd guess. A waterjet cuts super clean and smooth with the exception of the last little tab that holds the parts in place (remember the old plastic models that you had to break/cut out of the kit??). A little medium grit sandpaper should take care of any burrs.

I'm still waiting on my old shop to get a waterjet but even a "cheap" one is a good $250K or more investment.

Waterjet it must be to get the fine lines and detail, and minimize cleanup.

He is actually using some of our highly advanced Canadian technology, a real cutting edge tool we refer to as the BTR-KNF. This tool has multiple functions including the ability to remove paint, open paint jars, and test electrical outlets. I'll attach a photo but request this is not shared outside this forum for copyright reasons known only to myself. image.jpeg

Waterjet. Something like a KNUTH will start around $50-70k installed but the best names like OMAX and Flow start around $100k, but most of the ones Ive seen are closer to $150-200k installed. There are cheaper brands for very low volume use, but they are mostly garbage. Dont forget operating costs either, minimum $25-30 an hour not including the operator. Now you know why the bling costs so much!
