I did an overnight on the peace river in at zolfo springs and out around acadia. the west river bank is state land. we camped a few yards up a small creek tributary. The west side is patrolled by the grazing land owners who are pretty territorial. It took two cars though.

You might be able to start near Lakeland (rt 50 or hwy 92). that would give you two nights camping. There is the canoe outpost,, on the river, near acadia, which rents canoes . You might be able to get a ride up to a drop off. for a fare.

Good info. It's now on my list. Maybe upstream and back from Gardner if the water level is down in mid March (I have a Trolling motor for the upstream part). River is up 5 feet now.
I THOUGHT GETTING OLDER WOULD TAKE MUCH LONGER.

if your coming from Ocala, head east on Hwy 40. Make a right on 19. go down a little ways and make a right on FR 599. after you turn onto 599, start looking on your left for trails that head south to the lakes. If if rember correctly, the first on has a concrete slab where a house used to be. we usually camp at the second trail on the left. go all the way to the end. youll need a 4x4 if its wet.
