I suppose I should say "Hi" too...

I started posting here a couple of days ago and hammock camping a few months ago.

I'm a cub scout leader from Ottawa who opted to hammock camp when I found the family tent system was too much for one person.

I have a stock HH Explorer with hex fly and snakeskins. The only minor mods I've made are:
    • replaced the guy lines for the fly with reflective ones
    • tied a piece of flourescent guy line marker tape on the fly prussik so I can figure out which end is the entry slit end before removing the snakeskins
    • added some small biners through the ridgeline loops to hold a gear bag and my CPAP.

Thanks for sharing all your ideas with the unwashed masses. It sure shortens the learning curve.

    /Karl

    Right Back At Ya

Welcome to the hanging crowd. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Someone here has probably had some experience similar and can offer some advice/guidance.
    Peace,

Welcome to the crowd. I hit the spectra at the foot end of my Hennessey with white paint. I now use the BB sack so its not a problem. What is a CPAP.
    Glad to have you here

Welcome. With my snakeskins, I always pull the head end over the foot end, "head over foot... head over foot". I always know which way it goes. Just a weird little quirk.

Welcome to the forum. It's great that you a Scout leader and can influence the next generation of hammockers.

I do the same, but say "Head over heels!"

I have a tiny zip strip (wire tie) on the cord that goes from my hammock to my rings. I use a red zip tie for the "Head" end.

With a red sharpie marker, I put a red mark on the head end carabiner of my ring/buckle set-up. Red=Head

Be thankful you don't know. It's a machine for treating sleep apnea. It's a real challenge to put together a unit and power supply that can be backpacked.

I guess I found a common problem with the snakeskin thing. I wonder if they could mix-and-match the colours instead of shipping 2 of the same.

You'd probably be better off trying to DIY a set, rather than order. Either that or just skip the skins and go for a Bishop's Bag type arrangement.
