Rainfly/ Tarp Suggestions for a newbie

Hello all!! im trying to find a good rain fly/ tarp that wont break the bank i thought about trying DIY but my sewing skills are not up to par, to tell you what i like the look of is Shugs tarp with the doors where you can close them up i like the idea for heavy rainfall and snow and in cold temps i think it will help with being warmer. also if its hot you have the options to open it up so to speak and be cool, also how hard is it to sew leak proof seams for a rain fly? and thanks again. like i said im new to hammocking and to forums lol.

Not hard at all bud. The seams are fairly simple and you use seam sealer on them to fill in the holes from the needle. Only have to do the ridgeline. Fronkey has a nice video on youtube to make a tarp. He doesn't have doors but that is mostly just math.

One of these kits makes it easy. Just need velcro to seal the doors tight. There is some newer stuff, omni tape or something that is not as aggressive as velcro.

Yes you can attach a RL to the ENO stock suspension. If you have fixed loops on the RL you can simply larkshead the loops around the stock rope. You can also feed it through the rope in different fashions. You can even connect it to the biners if you want as long as when you measure the hammock to get your ridgeline length, you measure from the points where you are going to attach the RL to.

cheapest entry point for a rainfly is the Yukon Outfitters Walkabout Hammock Rainfly on Woot right now. $17 plus shipping. you can use it as a backup or loaner later on.

replace the cord and stakes that it comes with before your first hang
