Sub Zero (F) Setup from the ground up

I need to put together a full cold weather setup from the ground up for super cold temps. -25F to -35F in blowing and heavy snow conditions.

    I'm 6'1" 190 lbs

weight is not major issue. I do want to use the full cover trap. I was kind of thinking of a setup that i could stuff the entire thing into one sack and deploy quickly to get out of the cold.

I live in the high rockies and want a system for sleeping in the deep cold of our winters. We have some of the coldest temps in the nation (3rd coldest place in the lower 48)

Budget is going to play into this, but for those temps you will want to layer your quilts. Something like a 0°F quilt and a 40°F quilt would get you to roughly -30°F depending on whether you sleep cold or not. So you would need at least 2 under quilts and 2 top quilts. Couple that with a Winter Dream or Super Fly Tarp should keep the wind off you. Any of the popular hammocks should work fine, keeping warm will be your biggest issue.

Having the double quilts will allow you to use them individually the rest of the year if temps are higher than sub-arctic.

It all depends on your budget. My advice is to also use what private donut suggested get double layer hammock most of those you can stuff a pad also. I also suggest to get a winter sock this will help reduce heat loss.

You're actually the reason I'm posting this. I love the idea of balling your self up in the woods in temps most people won't even go out side in!

I was actually going to message you on youtube, didn't know you where here! glad you are!

Can you post links to all the products you use in your deep cold setup?

I also want to ask why you use a half quilt and throw in a food pad instead of just using a full quilt?

If there is anyone who is experienced in cold weather camping it is shug. Most of the videos that I watch of him is him in the snow. I was going to suggest the pod but it is kind of expensive. But shug is right the pea pod is great. It is better than a sock.

Well.....I can say where I got them. For the -40º trip......0º Warbonnet Black Mamba TQ. Western Mountaineering Alpinlite 20º Mummy sleeping bag, Warbonnet 0º Winter Yeti. My DIY hammock.

Most of the time I use a partial UQ as it takes up a bit less space in my backpack. Just a personal preference thing.

When I get into the double digit negatives I am a big fan of the molymacgear canvas sock. I think the breathability helps a lot.

For double digit negatives, I use closed cell foam as my under insulation.

I was also thinking about layering a 40dF underquilt over my 0dF underquilt because of the multi use benefit and it only adds like a pound. I tested my setup 2 weeks ago in low temps of -17dF and found that I started to feel the cold bleed threw on my butt around -15dF. My top quilt was still OK. Weather was blizzardy on one night and cold and calm the next.
