Mason here. Also a newbie (had my 1st hang last weekend at Twin Creek MetroPark near Germantown).
I'm from just north of Cincinnati. I had my first camping trip with a hammock just Friday night and loved it! I don't have any gear for bugs or rain (or backcountry - (I pretty much just have a hammock and straps) but I plan on starting to build my kit as budget permits.
I'm also new to these forums, so hi, everyone!

Spent summers as a boy in Yellow Springs. Does that qualify me as a honorary Ohio'ian?

Good to see more folks from around Cincy! Did a weekend trip with friends a couple weeks ago in Red River Gorge's Indian Creek area. There are some nice places along the creek that work well for hammocks.
Hey there, hanger in North Royalton, which is about 10 miles south of Cleveland. My favorite spots around the area for car-hanging are Mohican State Forest Park and Pack, Findley State Park, the Salt Fork State Park primitive campground (Bigfoot Ridge) and Punderson State Park. Haven't done much backpacking in Ohio, but lots in Virginia, West Virginia, Vermont, New York, and Pennsylvania. I live really close to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and it is sad that their camping options are so limited. All they have are the Stanford House sites, which are in a field basically. Anyways, hey there!
Newbie here, I am from Lima. Its hard to hang in the corn fields over here...
