Oh, for the second question, are you wanting to leave the guylines on the tarp, or you're them on each time?

Amsteel/dyneema is pretty slippery, so I'd tie a fixed loop of some kind (bowline, etc) and then tie a larkshead. That will hold on a loop of shock cord no problem.

Zeppelin Bend is especially reliable in shock cord. Pull to set the knot and it should last. And can usually be untied if needed.

    Hi guys

I enden up using the zeppelin bend to tie Dyneema to shockcord, it's for the Doors on the superfly tarp. I'm now looking for a knot to tie shockcord to the D-rings, i found a knot and tried it and liked it but now i can't find it again.
I want one that makes a small knot and dont use much cord, it just looks better

I leave guylines on the tarp, i'll only be using the SF so dont want to take them off

I'd just do a larkshead, and make sure the end of the shock cord has a stop knot in it. I use a figure 8 for all mine. But an overhand works just fine as well.

I'm with Gibson on this one.

Just leave a long tail with a fisherman style knot, pull tight, trim excess and melt the end.

Slippery figure 8 is what I use on my Under Quilt . Creates a loop tight knot that can be easily undone or adjusted.

Don't think I've ever seen the Zeppelin Bend before - thanks for that. Good stuff!

I've used a double fisherman's knot and then heat sealed it with cable wrap. Can't pull lose afterwards.

Agreed. I could never get a double-fishermans tied without wasting a ton of shock cord. Zepplin bend ties quick and easy and can be adjusted easily before setting to minimize waste.
