If we camp at site 9 or 10 as usual, than it is 3/4 or 1.5 miles from the parking area at most, respectively with little to no real terrain to deal with. You will need to bring your own water and there are NO facilitates, but good sized sites for a big group of hangers to spread out. Lots of trails to hike and mountain bike or you can park farther down if your looking to hike in.

Does anyone have a map to share of the park. Shows parking, hiking trails and camps site we are considering? I found some maps online but they don't look like what I have seen described on here. The only camp 9&10 I saw was in the campground and I don't think that's what everyone is referring to? Thanks for the other info Diz

All my maps are in PDFs and it looks like I can't upload PDFs. Here are some links instead.

Caltopo map showing the sign in location, the parking lot and sites 9 and 10. They are not on the trail map, but they are along the mountain bike trail on the northside.
Does that help?

No, you're not missing a thing. The sign-in point is for all campgrounds and is more or less centrally located. The park 'n' pack sites are spread out and you just drive to the closest lot (or furthest!) and hike in.
Since we can't reserve sites and the planned site might be taken, typically the first one in signs in and puts a "HF" on the line to indicate where we should go. You will still need to sign in, though.

This has a different view and some more info on the State Forest layout; http://www.mohicanstatepark.org/uplo...ingmohican.pdf
The Star marked Forest office is where you sing in (upper center left below the Discovery Forest) and top right is Parking for sites 8, 9 and 10. Hope all of this helps.

Rather than going through the 12 pages, what weekend was decided on for Mohichan?
I'll see if I can get my old computer up and going and add map, pictures, directions to kosik, and such tomorrow.
Just an FYI; we have heavily wooded land with a babbling brook in Waverly, OH if we ever want to head that direction. Driveway isn't done or cleared yet, so we'd have to hike down to the flatter portions....or not, because we're hammockers There are a lot of lone star ticks down there, and they are very agressive. I already have chronic lyme, so just want to give everyone a heads up on the bad part.
I believe that we are shooting for 4/29-5/1, Diz can correct me if wrong.Does anyone else think it's worth creating a new thread for this second April hang? I could start it with dates, maps, etc.....
DivaB, Nice offer about your Waverly spot. The ticks might scare some off, but I'm assuming a deet shower would help? You said the drive wasn't done or cleared...I'm guessing my jeep could make it down there?
