    Canada>Alberta>Jasper>North Boundary Trail in Summer 2016

    I'm looking to hike the North Boundary Trail in Jasper at some point this summer. Was thinking I'd do it solo but company is more than welcome. I've done 3-4 day trips in Jasper before but this would my longest trip yet. There are lots of primitive campgrounds along the trail with firepits, bear poles and pit toilets. Some descriptions say that all major creek crossings are bridged but some say that bridges don't exist. Plan to get wet.

    I'm planning on doing it from Celestine Road to Mt. Robson and hoping to do it in 8 days. Pretty much copied the plan from the blog post at http://trailanderrorhiking.blogspot....il-jasper.html

    * Day 1 - arrive at the trailhead in mid-afternoon and start hiking. Camp at Shalebanks CG (17km)
    * Day 2 - Shalebanks CG to Willow Creek CG with a stop at Snake Indian Falls (21 kms)
    * Day 3 - Willow Creek CG to Blue Creek CG with a short detour to Welbourne Falls (26 kms)
    * Day 4 - Blue Creek CG to Oatmeal CG (28 kms)
    * Day 5 - Oatmeal CG to Twintree CG (24 kms)
    * Day 6 - Twintree CG to Chown Creek CG (17 kms)
    * Day 7 - Chown Creek CG to Adolphus CG (24 kms)
    * Day 8 - Adolphus CG to Berg Lake Trailhead through the Valley of a Thousand Falls (25 kms)

    Dates I have in mind:

    * June 10 - 17
    * July 15 - 22
    * August 1 - 8

    Wish I could do this with you, but that much time off would kill me. Maybe next time.

    haha...I hear ya. It's definitely a lot of time. I've spent the last couple of years reducing my pack weight so it seems crazy to just use it for car camping or overnight hikes.

    On top of that, this seems like a great hike to get away from everything and see roughly a thousand waterfalls. What could be better than that?

    I'm too oldnslow. (Swidt) to handle 8 days backpacking. I'm also low man on the totem pole, so summer times off are not likely. I'd be up for a few day mini wuse hike. LOL

    As (bad) luck would have it, I've been waiting for some minor foot surgery for over a year and just got the call to come in. Just had the surgery today and my hiking will be delayed until next summer. However, I'm really excited to do the North Boundary Trail and would love to do it with you next summer if you're interested in that.

    If you end up doing it this year, I would recommend September. I was chatting with some folks at the Parks office last time I was in Jasper and they said that the river crossings are the most difficult part since almost none of them have bridges. Leaving the hike until later in the season means that the rivers will be lower.
