Wink ViDEO: Minnesota Northwoods Postholing Promenade

Pretty warm March here in Minnesota. All the snow in the Twin Cities has melted away. Alex, Eric and Jonah and I headed North to see what was shaking snow-wise. Actually about 12 to 18 inches back in the woods in the Finland, MN area. None of us brought snowshoes. So post-holing it was. Wet, slippery snow and plenty of ice in the trail. The Kahtoola Micro-Spikes came in very handy.....http://kahtoola.com/product/microspikes/
Got a brand new full length -10º rated Argon Underquilt to try out from Loco Libre Gear....http://www.locolibregear.com
Wow...like sleeping in a warm cloud. Wish it had been colder to really test it. I'll be doing a real look-see video on it soonest.
All of us had Fancee Feest alcohol stoves, that says something.
Real fun being out with the fellers. We all know each other through circus.
Sore calves this morning from all the post-holing.

Now that was perfect for a dreary Monday morning at work, thankee. lol Best vid title yet. Our snow on the south shore is pretty much gone. Ran my first NCT shuttle of the season yesterday for a guy hiking from Cty A trailhead to Mellen. He was grinning ear to ear, I had trail envy bad. Keep my fingers crossed for no late season dumps.

That sure does look cold from down here in Alabama. The low where we camped at this weekend was around 60 degree. Slept in shorts and a t-shirt....

Always appreciate your trip reports, thanks for sharing with us!
Every hike begins with the first step and ends with the last one, it is all the steps in between that create all the memories.

Thanks for another enjoyable video. It's every time a pleasure to watch and listen. You had a nice rotatable grill at the campfire. I wish I could buy something like that in Europe. Nice you all enjoyed the reliability of an alcohol stove.

Many of our state park backwoods sites have those grills...they are wonderful. Our tax money at work. Good work though!

The Gray Jays are so cool. They go and stash those nuts in the crook of a tree.
