Hammock stand differences?

Hello everybody,

What's better, what's the difference, what's everybodies opinion on the Tensa4 hammock stand VS the Tato Gear hammock stand.
I want a light, portable easy to use stand. help me out please....

I have both stands. The Tato stand is a tank and very sturdy. The Tensa4 stand has the qualities you listed as wanting, and I would recommend it as a first choice.

I only have the Tensa 4 stand but looking at the specs the Tensa is half the weight and the bag size is smaller. I bought mine for car and kayak camping.

I've yet to spend a night in the Tensa, only a brief couple of hangs to test it out. I'll be using it at Hangcon for the first real test but I can't see any issues so far. My 11 foot hex tarp works well with my Chameleon Wide on the stand.

Hard to say one's "better." They're different. The Tato is perhaps more intuitive and arguably more sturdy (no taco-factor), while the Tensa could be considered a more "elegant" solution. As wbJohn mentioned, the Tensa is lighter and packs up smaller. The Tensa (currently, but soon to change) relies on UCR's for adjustments, and I could imagine those aren't everyone's cup of tea, especially in glove-weather.

There's a quick learning curve with the Tensa, but once I got the hang of it, I can basically set it up from scratch with hammock attached in about 5 minutes. Take-down is even faster. And to my above comment about sturdiness, once you've gotten the hang of setting up and using the Tensa, there's no reason to be concerned about it being any less sturdy than the Tato.

I only have the Tensa and I like it a great deal, but I'm still not willing to say that it's "better."

Thanks for the info, tensa4 me then. I'm going to order one this Friday. Then I will be able to setup my hammock everywhere, woohoo. Gonna be a lot of work nights out in the back garden now.
