I've used mine about a dozen times and the legs have never come together. I know the camping kit comes with straps that prevents just the opposite where the legs would spread out.

Is anyone else having issues with the bag their stand came with?

I think I'll be sewing a new bag for it pretty soon.

    Nope.

Holding up just fine and I've hauled across 5 states and to many hangs. Just thrown it in the back of the truck, no special treatment.

I do want to mod it a bit, better closure for the internal sack for stakes, maybe put in a divider. Also thinking about a heavier duty fabric for the bottom.

Also working on some spreader bars for the legs out of ultralight tent poles with rings on the end that lock with a pressure fit gizmo.

Stands have become of greater interest to me as I've run into "issues" at a number of locations when trying to hammock camp. Have at least two trips this summer where they will be required as the only campground in the area of the destination does not allow hammock camping at the state level.

What kind of issues are you having?

I would like to see the spreader bars, so please post pics when you are done.

My handle strap has torn off. I only got the stand in December, so I have only hauled it to 3 states. I could fix the strap, but I don't like how the poles feed in through the end. I'd rather have something like a duffel bag with a long zipper.

Yeah the # of states just meant that they get bounced around in the back of the truck a bit and there's been a fair bit of loading and unloading. My strap is holding up just fine but now that you've got me thinking, I reeeeeally like the duffle idea.

I'd go with a detachable strap (doubles as a tree strap), waterproof bag as rain/water is an issue in the back of the truck, robust zipper, compartments, maybe even a little 1/4" foam padding here and there, storage sacks for the stakes, guy outs, little add on gizmos such as lights and storage bags I hang from the tripods, maybe even a spot for a dedicated tarp.

Wow! Great ideas. Talk about multi-tasking!!

I was thinking about using canvas, since my suv is enclosed. I put it across the footwells of the back seat.
