    Did I do this right?

Hi guys, today I went out and tried to make a structural ridgeline for my eno doublenest. I just used some old thin rope. This is my first time doing anything like this so I am sorry if I failed. http://imgur.com/RvUAbQf

I attach mine with a larkshead (or fixed brummel loop using amsteel) through the innerside of the hammock gather but if what you did works, I don't think there is any 'must do it this way' type of rule on it.

OK, thanks. One thing, is the ridge line supposed to have slack on it or be tight?

If your ridge line is long enough, I attach mine to the tree above where I hang my straps or whoopee slings for my hammock. Or if using an ENO tarp, I'll suspend it directly under the tarp by attaching the ridge line to the attachment points of either end of the tarp

Brownbear, I think he is experimenting with a 'structural' ridgeline in order for the lay to stay consistent.

rockchuck, It shouldn't be guitar string tight but it needs to be reasonably tight, I can usually move mine with a thumb and finger to a perpendicular angle while laying in the hammock but there is definitely tension on it. That way it will ensure that the hammock has close to the same sag even if your lines from the tree aren't at exactly the right angle. On a new hammock, it takes me a few hangs to get mine exactly where I want them so I generally use a whoopie sling as a ridgeline so I can mess with the exact setting.

Flat liner is right so one thing is how much % sag do you got on it. A typical ridgeline is ideal at 83% 30° lay dehoja on the ultimate hang has a hang calculator so you can get it dialed in ideal as needed

83% is a really great starting point that's 83% of the total length of your hammock when it's just laid out flat on the ground. I find that I end up being an inch or two off of that one way or the other depending on the hammock the material etc.

You want to tie it in in such a way that you never have to untie it
