    Cinch buckle users: storage method.

I have recently switched all of my suspension systems to cinch buckles. I love them so far, way easier for me to adjust. Weight penalty is no concern.

I am having difficulty with deciding how I want to stow my straps. How do you stow your straps in your pack?

I'd like to leave them attached to the buckle but they are really bulky and hard to handle while taking each end down. Even when I use a shorter strap. I use a Dutch double end stuff sack so the buckles and straps are on the outside of that.

It's not much work to thread them back through, but the point is to be able to sling them up and be done.

Thanks for any and all input.

    Rick

Mine stay attached to the hammock. The only time i ever remove the straps is if they are wet. The bulk is the same whether they are attached or not, the only difference is the volume is separated into 2 parts.

Do you wrap them with something to keep them together?

I have a couple of hammocks with cinch buckles, both cinch buckles are on a continuous loops that are attached to the hammocks. The straps have either Dutch clips or carabiners on the the end, I store those in my stake bag along with bear bag cordage. I am a little OCD about rolling my straps and cordage up and keeping them neat and segregate the straps from the hammocks to mitigate the chance tree sap can get on my hammock. I also use a rubber band to keep the straps rolled up.

I just stuff the whole deal (hammock, cinch buckles, straps) in the double ended stuff sack. Everything stays attached and together. Easy to deploy without having to put anything back together.

Ditto.. Stuff it all in a double ended bag. If wet, they go in an outside pocket of the backpack.

I'm trying out ready straps lock n load cinch buckles. I really like them so far, I use to just stuff everything but don't like the idea of threading re threading them especially if wet or w tree sap. Figure for a little more weight I have that option and I also have the option to use a whoopie sling if I want...basically gives me the option to use many set ups with the hammock just having continous loops. Main purpose tho is to seperate suspension from hammock for wet conditions quickly and easily. Hammock anchors wore down amsteel to quick for me and I really feel best with cinch buckles.. fyi 370 lbs here

I always separate straps from buckles. Tree sap is bad. A zip lock and a couple of rubber bands isolate straps from any fabric.

I wrap my straps around the outside of my double end stuff stack. They stay connected to the cinch buckles. Easy to get to when hanging. I avoid sappy trees so no worry there.

I've been packing everything together for the past 4+ years in the included hammock sack. I never even considered removing the straps. What a PITA! I find the webbing doesn't hold enough water to be a problem. And I've never encountered sappy straps; that's saying a lot since I really only camp in pines. Another KISS
