I'm originally from Texas...Houston to be exact...camping in the summer in TX can be a miserable experience if you let it be...I couldn't see needing any insulation....Once tent / car camping I soaked a beach towel in the cooler before I went to the sack...then I stripped off and laid down and covered up with the cold , wet towel...hammock,tarp , bug net..skivvies is all I'd reckon you'd need ....Thankfully TN / mountains cool down at night and is very pleasant...bugs are still a problem tho.

That stinks. I love baby powder. I just used it last night to insert foam into diy shoulder straps thinking how nice the pack will smell. If this applies to Gold Bond, my boys are going to be sorely disappointed this summer.

Not sure about Texas, but here I either go up to the mountains where it usually cools down enough at night, or I make sure I'm camping near water, something cool to jump in and cool off.
If it's just blistering out, I'll just stay in the AC.

I start by getting all the accumulated sweat and grime off my body before retiring. I use these: https://actionwipes.com/collections/...5-single-packs They are a bit pricey but, 1 will clean me head to toe. It is the last thing I do before getting into my hammock.

I go without my Underquilt until the temp drops low enough to make me cold.

I try to deploy my Tarp in a fashion that will catch rather than block a breeze.

Finally, I'll take my hike to the North Shore of Lake Superior. I have watched the thermometer drop 20 degrees during the final 5 miles as I drive into Duluth. From Plano TX you should be there in around 16 hours.

    Good Luck, Stay cool!

Living here in Arkansas a stones throw from the Texas line and come July-early September the days hit 100 with 90% Humidity. It can take your breath away it's so hot. I typically avoid hammocking those months unless I am alongside cool water. Taking an evening sit in a lake or riverbank after dinner draws down the body heat considerably giving me some relief and setting the stage for a better nights sleep start. I also make sure there is no camp work to be done once I'm finished swimming that would raise my body temp again. I start with a thin top sheet but keep my Mountain Hardwear Duo Flip close to pull over if a temp drop requires it. http://www.mountainhardwear.com/down...ar-OU8534.html

High humidity temp temp drops even into mid 70's can feel colder to me at 2 am so I carry it even when it's dang hot!

It's thinner than a top quilt but still down filled and packs smaller than a light blanket. Body types add a different dimension and leaning towards the brawny frame type doesn't help me in that regard but even I have had a less "swampy" night if I slow way down and let the body temp start its slow drop to a more comfortable arrangement. Over 90 at night and there is no hope. None. At least for me.....lol.

Living in Alabama, I do like Fallkniven: a dip in the really cool creeks we have around the Sipsey just before bed. The Chilly Pad and/or fan helps too. We have no need for an underquilt in summer... Just a light sheet or similar top cover for early morning is about all that is needed...

    BRILLIANT!! can't hurt the fabrics, can't hurt you.....just don't use shower-to-shower lol

i never liked those chilly pad things...i always warm them up to my temperature. a battery operated/solar fan would be neat, i'll have to find one... swipeing the grime off and dippin in the creek after camp chores then some baby powder to keep everything silky...this is starting to sound like a spa day rather than a camp out lol

I live in arkansas and I just pack it in come summer. You can only go so far to "trick" heat and humidity.

And here I am worried about getting some sand from my feet in the hammock and quilt! This would be my nightmare!
