    DIY Top Quilt Help

I've only done hammock camping in the spring and summer with a sleeping bag/sleeping pad. I finally decided to upgrade so today I ordered a Hennessy Hammock super shelter (I own a Bottom Entry Hennessy). I decided that I wanted to make my own Climashield top quilt. All the designs i've seen use ripstop as the bottom and top layer, I was curious why no one seemed to use Polar Fleece in their Top Quilts. Wouldn't polarfleece be warmer and softer? The only downside I can see is weight. Unless there is a problem with this idea, I plan on using Ripstop for the top layer, the middle will be 3.6 oz Climashield Apex, and a bottom layer of polarfleece. I will be mostly doing summer camping.

    Thoughts?

As long as you don't mind the extra weight and bulk go for it. I'm curious to see how warm it will be

Polar fleece is warm, but for the same weight, and less bulk, Climashield is a lot warmer. What fleece has going for it is durability. Fleece doesn't lose its bulk from compression (it doesn't really compress very much compared to Climashield) and you can wash it pretty easily.
