    hello from New Zealand

    Hi all,

Just started hanging out at Xmas.
I've picked up quite a bit over the last few months and made 2 gathered end and one bridge.
Viewed shugs hilarious bids and Dr Hammock.
I've only seen reference to my question in one of about 50 vids.

Why are single line setups for gathered end not more common.
It seems a sensible approach as no separate bug net or tarp line is required an 4mm dynema is more than sufficient to hang from.
It also frees up site choice a lot.

    Is there something I'm missing?

    Cheers John

I wouldn't go near a single line suspension just because of my experience with Hennessy Hammocks and the way their tarps hang off the hammock suspension. The popularity of single line suspensions speaks for itself - they're not popular.

I would have to agree w/ that. When I was chosing gear to get started, anything I watched about the hennessy set up was a turn off to me.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I tried it at home and it sucks.
Too muck sag on ridge line to make it viable without ratcheting ridge line.

Good thing is I now have 15m of 4mm dynema for other projects,1500Kg breaking strain.
Shackles worked a treat on main line too.
