I have a lot going on the week before but I may be able to make it down for an overnight. I'll follow this thread and let everyone know soon if I can make it out.
I'm sorry, I haven't been following close. Tropikal answered you correctly. also, that entry point is not a well marked. There is a stretch of dry lake bed that you have to get intuitive with. (Hard to do first time.) Coming in from the north is best for first time, since the Florida Trail is so well marked.

HeirloomVegan, just to clarify your directions. The Trailhead is not on the right of the FR as per your instructions coming in from SR 19. The Pat's Island trail parking is on the right, but the Trail Head you're looking for is on the left. There is a little access trail from the parking lot, but it's overgrown and most don't use this.
Coming from the parking lot, go out to the FR and turn right(moving in the same direction you came in on). About 100 yards or so, there will be the Florida Trail that crosses the dirt road. Turn left and head South on the FT. This is the main Trail Head with all the info here.

You're welcome. Also, the pond is spring fed and used as the water source so you don't need to haul in a ton of H2O. Hike in either in the early morning hours or late in the afternoon to keep the heat of the day off of you. It can get hot in the prairie. In the afternoon, rain gear may be necessary.
Hope to meet you there.

It stands for Forest Road. They are dirty roads, usually pretty hard packed and pretty well graded, but some ruts. Wish I could make it, but I'll be at a wedding in NC that weekend. For you rookies to Hidden Pond, little or no water until you reach Hidden Pond, but sure to bring at least 2 liters for the hike in. Once you are there the pond water is easily accessible. Take the insect repellant, chiggers and ticks can be a problem. The camp site is on the west side of the pond and up the short incline. Enjoy the sugar sand and rolling hills. Someone please post pictures of this trip! Remember thunderstorms are a real possibility late in the afternoons from now until fall!
Good Luck and Have fun!!!
Is there a date set yet? I've read through the thread twice and never saw it.
Thanks
