Might be easier to make than a set of pajamas.
A free canoe is better than no canoe.
what is insultex? and what are the advantages/applications in hammocking?
On Friday night and Saturday, with temps between 33*F and 21*F, I wore the following:
light weight flannel shirt
Insultex vest and sleeves
Nylon covering shirt
another Nylon covering shirt
That's all! I was toasty the entyre time! I don't think I needed the inside nylon covering shirt; both have good elastic on wrists and waist. When we hiked out on Saturday, I removed one nylon covering shirt and the Insultex vest and sleeves, because I thought I would be too hot with temps above freezing. Trouble was, on the hike out I did not have enough on.
I'm going to make a better Insultex vest and sleeves, as well as a liner for a wind jacket. That should make for a couple of lightweight garments that will suffice for pretty cold weather.
thanks so much for the piece you gave me yesterday. I placed that sheet of insultex proably folded in half twice between my Hangnout's daughters diy 2/3 uq and then got in my hammock. It was the turkey gap hike and you all have seen the temps. Im sure it started mid 30s or so and I had 3 layers of clotheson in my clark. I had to take off all the layers except the bottom layer of clothes....and my hudson river quilt got pushed down to my feet....and I used just my 55 degree rei bag with one shirt on in that temp. To be fair I added a second shirt and used the hudson river when it got below freezing but at first it was like an oven. I wonder if there is a good way to insulate your feet and legs with it when you have a partial uq? Maybe attach it to the bottom of the wal mart ccf pad? or better...maybe under a pieceof fleece blanket?
