Costco Find: Singer 4452 Heavy Duty Thread Injector

    Greetings

While I was perusing my local Costco (in Canada), I found this thread injector and thought I would pass it along.

Singer 4452 Heavy Duty Thread Injector - $179.99

The list of included and bonus accessories was quite interesting and makes this a good value thread injector for the new DIYer. When I got my first machine I paid $150 for a used and refurbished Singer machine that was quite a bit older. This one states that it has a 25 year limited warranty.

I was looking at the same machine the other day. Looks like a good deal but I don't know anything about it. Time. For some research.

Limited warranty to what degree? Not a machine I would choose, but some folks have had good luck with them.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I found this on the singerco.com website under the full features link.

The SINGER 4452 Scholastic sewing machine comes with a limited 25-Year Warranty including 2 years on electronic components and 90 days on adjustments. This sewing machine is warranted for commercial and household use.
It may not be a machine you would use. However, these days finding a machine with an all metal frame (don't know about gears and other moving parts) and 1100 stitches per second in a new sewing machine at this price point isn't very common. I don't own this model, myself. It would be one I would consider and that is the reason I am passing along the information.

    Cheers

These are good, i use a 1950s machine, but for 90% of ultralight gear this would be perfect i think.

As long as you are not sewing canvas or leather it would be fine.

I got this model a few months ago to replace a 25 year old singer. So far I have been very happy with it. Its faster, quieter. They moved the reverse switch so its taking a bit to get used to that. I really love the self threading feature as my old eyes aren't what they used to be.

I love mine. Definitely not "heavy duty" as far as commercial sewing machines are concerned but ive bartacked through 6 layers of webbing without issue. More like heavy duty for a home machine.

My wife doesn't let me use her Janome for my DIY projects, so I bought one a couple of years ago. It's not a Janome, but I've sown canvas, leather, silnylon, you name it, with success. The thing I don't like is the foot pedal, it's hard to start easy and go slow.

At that price, a very good buy.

I stuck a piece of gorilla tape below the pedal. It creates enough resistance to give better control.
