Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness

I am thinking of going out backpacking at the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness area. Does anyone have any recommendations and routes or online resources for planning my trip?

When are you planning to come out? Are you looking to hit high mountains with lakes or be lower down along the rivers? The Frank Church covers a lot of ground. There are a number of access points....some of which will not be dry till August others that you could get into now so long as you don't mind some snow.....we got a lot this year.

We were planning on going sometime in August. Are there any online resources or books that outline good hikes for 4 or 5 days in that area?

Margret Fuller is the lady here in Idaho that has hiked more trail miles than 10 AT through hikers combine. She has a number of books that are good places to start, one specifically on the Frank.

Unfortunately I don't know of very many online resources for the area. Some bits scattered here and there. If you narrow down to one area or one trail then searches will become more tangible to useful information.

Bighorn Crags is one of the major spots to look at. Lots of lakes, high elevation trails and way off the beaten path of most of the world.
