    Are double hammocks fully reversible?

Are they fully reversible? Or is it designed for a specific inside/outside? I am going back and forth on getting a DIY kit for a basic single layer from RSBTR or a double with knotty ends from Dutch (polar opposites it seems). I would love to go cheap/inexpensive, but then again, the other options would be nice to have. Decisions decisions. Right now it's just for lounging, but I would love to try it for camping at some point (currently we tent camp since we have the little ones).

What's the point of a reversible hammock? Is it a fashion statement? Most people get a double layer to manage a pad or to handle a higher weight.

I was reading through the camo hammock thread and was thinking it would be a way to have a bright "safety" fabric and a more neutral "blend in" fabric all in one so you could use whichever one you deemed necessary at the time rather than two separate hammocks. I would like the double mainly for the stuffing option, but figured it could be useful in other ways as well.

Any hammock without an integrated bug net is essentially reversible in that it will work just fine with either side. SilvrSurfr is right though, generally people use a double for weight or to handle a pad. Some people have done the two tone thing for looks, so I guess it just depends on your need. I guess If I was looking for color to be spotted, say during hunting season, I would go with a brighter tarp to make sure I was seen, vs. a hammock.

And yet one of the most popular color combos we do is the Lime and Blaze.

As long as you don't mind the weight penalty for that option, and the fact that nobody will probably see the color of your hammock under a tarp.

Lots of guys can't justify dual layer weight just for looks. Don't let that stop you though, I bought a charcoal and burnt orange dutchware just because I wanted a fancy hammock. No regrets. If you need a light weight option later... Buy one. Nobody says you can have only one hammock.

I have dreams of backpacking it, but it will be in a later stage of life... so for now weight isn't an issue. Just trying to weight out the pros and cons of each option (and figure out what all the different fabrics are!)

I love the texture of my hexon 1.6, it's breathable and soft like firm linen but not slick and does not build static. The dual layer feels identical but the fabric is less stretchy for a firmer lay. I like both to be honest and it's nice to have the option to switch it up depending on my day.
