    I'd like to hang under my deck. Is it safe?
    Until your wife catches you and tells you to get back to mowing the lawn.

    From your pictures I would have no trouble hanging from that deck, it looks quite sturdy.

    This is my method to eliminate stress on the deck supports by using a $9 fence top rail from home depot:

    As options to support the other end of the ridge pole I have used a tri-pod (TurtleDog Stand) or a standard step ladder - each end supports 1/2 your weight and the pole take up the lateral forces.
    I figure there is no reason to risk damaging the deck supports.
