    Worst stitching job ever

My young granddaughter wanted me to make her a hammock. Her mom and I decided on robin egg blue and I chose the 1 oz hyper d from rbtr. That is some really nice fabric. I had shoulder surgery last friday so I have to sew sranding up since my arm won't go very high. I was tired when I started and might have had a tad too much pain medication so you can imagine. Plus the only thread I had was dark blue so you can see every stitch. There ain't a straight stitch on the thing. Well she is young so probably won't notice, but I wish I had done a better job since the fabric is so nice. Oh well, I was bored and needed something to do, but should have waited. Patience is not one of my strong points. Y'all ever notice some colors seem softer than others or is it just me.

Crooked stitches are just as effective as ultra straight ones.

I don't know about softer, but darker fabrics are warmer IMO.

As long as it holds, no one will ever know.

Different fabrics do feel differently to different people.

All of my projects are ugly as homemade sin, but they work. I bet she will be so proud of her new toy that YOU made.

I'm blind in one eye and have 70% vision in the other. I've sewn a few tablecloth hammocks (double and single) and a silnylon tarp. I make my own Amsteel whoopie slings, soft shackles, continuous loops, soft shackle prusiks, dogbones, etc. I've even sewn my own tree straps!

Everything works fine, as good as the vendor-bought stuff, but my sewing is pretty ugly.

You made your granddaughter a hammock while recovering from sugery, that's a win in itself :-)

And hey you're her granddad; she'll love it regardless. I know; I made my first hammock (yellow with black threads with nice curvy stitching) for our oldest and he loves it.

Looks like it will hang. She will love it no matter what.
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.
