Yep very weird. I read up on it and our government even asked an exception for the military. I pressume they asked that **** European government :-(. Ridiculous to ask an outside force if you are allowed to protect your own soldiers.

Earlier in this thread someone asked was it safe for dogs. About 3 year ago I was paying $200 plus every 3 months for Fruntline. After finding permathane was a main ingredient I ordered a gallon of 36.8 from Do Your Own Pest Control in Georgia for around $80. It is oil based so I do not use it on gear. Wife puts a few cc's of undiluted on the outside dogs & I dilute it per instructions for spraying. I use the Sawers on hammocks & gear because it's water based. Only used 1/2 gallon in 3 year.

Permethrin is available in the Netherlands as a lotion or a cream, even without a doctors prescription. It is used as a treatment for scabies. It is probably not well suited for treatment of clothes, as it is fat soluble and not water soluble. I do not know about the right concentration for the prevention a ticks bites though. This one is 50 mg/ml, i.e. a 5% solution.

Yeah but that won't work on equipment and clothes, which is where I want to use it. Still, thanks for the tip.

I bought the Sawyer spray bottle on amazon. The pump is junk, wouldn't pull any liquid at all.
Fortunately it's a common thread so I just used the pump from a Rain-X bottle I had which was almost gone anyway. I washed it real good and works fine.
I found some in Europe "Durvet Permethrin Chemtech 10% EC Insecticide Concentrate Livestock Spray 8oz" but it states on the label that it contains Petroleum distilate.
Is that the stinking one or does it say that also on your versions? Can anyone check on their flask?

In the US I bought Martin's 10% solution which, based on what I could find, does not contain petroleum distillates. I would personally stay away from anything with PD.

I ended up with some 10% solution from the local Farm store. They only had solutions with Petroleum Distillates. The stuff really smells like moth balls. I'll be checking into the non-PD stuff in the future. Unless you store your equipment outside, look for non-PD or just use the Sawyer stuff.
I have used Sawyer's for the last few years with excellent results. Lasts a long time on treated gear. Hang Hammock, spray underside, let dry a minute. No smell, no bugs!!

Check if you can buy products called NOBITE in the Netherlands.
nobite.com
The stuff that is called "NOBITE Kleidung" is for clothes and gear.
There's also a product line called "NOBITE Haut", which is for the skin.
