Hello from.....wait, where am I?

Howdy. As you might guess from my screen name, I'm from Texas, but currently living just south of Atlanta, GA. (yes, it is Missin'Texas - not Miss-in-Texas (all American red-blooded male here)) I've been an outdoor enthusiast for most of my 49 years - camping, hiking, hunting, fishing - if it happens outdoors, I probably love doing it. I've always been intrigued with hammock camping, but never got around to really trying it. I've been lurking on the forums for quite some time and finally signed up. (and yes, I got here through Shug's YT channel - thanks Shug.....I think) Can't wait to hopefully meet some of you and learn more about this hobby / passion / addiction or whatever you call it.

So, welcome to the for.....oh, wait again....y'all are supposed to tell me that, so off you go.......

Hi! From the DFW area. It's not an addiction. I can't believe anyone said that. Cruel, uncalled for. All of us can quit, anytime. Really. No, I'm not joking (wait....looking over at Dutch)....Really, a lot of people (Warbonnet has something)....can quit. No problem.

Question: What's a chigger? I've heard people on the forum mention them but not aware of what they are.

Well, I lived in CT for 3 years, then IL for 4 and i can tell you I would MUCH rather have the heat than the cold. The winters up there just seemed to last forever!! As far as a chigger, they are a type of mite that live on low growing plants. The young ones get on your skin and burrow in causing these nasty little welts. Worst case i ever had was shortly after high school, we had a bonfire in a friends "back forty". i passed out in the field in shorts and a sleeveless shirt and woke up literally covered under my arms and other "sensitive" areas. Will NEVER make that mistake again.
