I've been a member for almost three years. I read a lot but I don't post a lot I've started to enjoy sewing my own hammocks and chairs and wondering what is the best way to sell. Should I put them on ebay ?

One earns the privilege of selling gear here by their contribution to the forums not, by the date they registered. There are other sites where that "contribution" is not a prerequisite.
There are those who will try to circumnavigate the rules.

Thanks for your input.
I think contributing well-cared-for high-end gear at a reduced price to a forum I care for instead of people I don't know on eBay is a worthwhile thing. I learned how to make my own stuff and taught friends in person about the things I learned here and from many videos on youtube from users here. I could wait a month or two and post more but its seems like an arbitrary rule. Perhaps a second qualification of some other method would be good for this site. Not sure what.
I'm going to sell my extra gear whether its here or not, especially, now that I have a second child and less time for camping, plus I can make more of my own items (sorry, not for sale.)
Also you misspelled authority in your quote. Just looking out for you.
I don't think anyone is arguing whether or not you have well- cared-for gear, or if you have taught what you learned with others. I understand that you may be an active, trustworthy member without accumulating 50 posts, but there is no effective way to personalize the process, and "pass" those who seem like they're good members with very low post count. Basically, the rule has been a rule for a while, and for good reason; it easily aids the forum in validating you as a seller and member.

Thousands of members here and all follow the same rules, while you may think your doing all of us here a big favor by selling us your used gear it's not the main funtion of this forum nor do the admins or mods give it priority over other aspects of the site.
Sorry that you don't feel like sharing your experiances and things that you have learned here worth your time but ebay will be glad to let you list your stuff on thier site.
Note - i have misspelled a few words so that you can
;look out for me !!
Thanks intimidator. That is good feedback. If everyone likes that rule and uses it its ok with me. But I've thought about selling things several times over the years I've been on the site and before I became a member.
Zilla, constructive feedback is not automatically an insult. its kind of like telling someone politely you have something in your teeth. Not a thing to be defensive over. I would genuinely want to know if its something on every one of my posts.
I am a new member, and to be honest, if you have been very serious at all about learning all you can about hammock camping and gear, you would have a lot more than 50 posts in 3 years.
To me, the enjoyment of the journey is in the learning, and if you were not willing to participate in the learning and sharing in the last 3 years, what advantage should be afforded to you for your sale?
It was funny.
Well I'm not sure posting equates to learning. I've read a ton of posts and watched about of shugs and many other videomakers tutorials like professorhammock and SGT Rock.
I've only really posted when I get some new stuff to review or when I made my first hammock a year or two ago.
I've made a foam pillow, teepee style hammock chair, and almost done with a 4 oz carbon fiber tripod chair. Might post those soon.
The advantage would obviously be letting people use the gear I'm not using because I have too much.
Getting several posts from this conversation for sure.
Keep it up, at this rate you will be at 50 in no time.
