Wet snow and hammock tarps

AMEN !!

Used Lashit and Zingit, neither gave way under a heavy snow load. The split rings I was using did give way and I'm glad they did, saved a tear to the fabric.

I had about 8" of heavy stuff pull the tarp to the ground, accumulate enough weight to snap the 1.8mm zing it CRL. Luckily the Zing It gave away and not the tarp. FWIW the Zing It let go on the hard bend that the tarp flyz creates.

When you pitch steep don't forget to pitch high enough to prevent the snow sliding off the tarp from building up on the bottom of the tarp.

Wouldn't figure on it actually breaking.

Broke! Snapped the Zing It right where it makes the hard bend around the flyz. I'm curious how much a hard bend on a hard surface like that derates the rope. I was surprised to the stitching on the tie out loop didn't let go.

I've always been concerned about that, especially with hammock suspension not necessarily tarp suspension. I try and minimize my hardware, but I also like knots and such. YMMV
