    Video: Trickin' Out The Ariel

    Following on the heels of 'Engineering the Grizz Bridge Ariel'
    I put together a walk-through of the Ariel, 'Trickin out the Ariel'.
    The hook: from tree to tree, excluding spreader bar (or hiking pole),
    including a completely detachable 1/2 bugnet, the Ariel weighs
    15.75 oz. This video touches on

    * the suspension from tree to hammock
    * the ridgeline
    * attaching an underquilt
    * a completely detachable 1/2 bugnet

    I expect the next in the Ariel series will hit the DIY
    details of making this 1/2 bugnet, and a fully enclosed bugnet.

    Thats a pretty sweet rig. I'm liking the magnet system, well done.
    Good luck,

    Is it possible to get the OpenSCAD file (I think you're using OpenSCAD, am I right?)
    The idea of recessed spreader bars is very cool, this is what I want for my next hammock.

    Red, FM---thanks!

    rammsteini---I use a python script to generate the OpenSCAD file, have attached both it and a .scad file created using
    input parameter -ptsPerSlice 21. To my mind the python view is easier to understand than the OpenSCAD view, but
    OpenSCAD is nice for visualization.

    I had to add '.txt' extension to both to trick the system into accepting them as attachments.

    Nice video. I like the close ups of the important details.

    Really impressive that all of that comes in under a pound. That's incredible (remember that show from the 80's?)! Color me jealous.

    I have been looking to add a bugnet to my diy grizzbridge for awhile now and never thought of magnets, might be the best way to go.
    Grizz, - do you think that a magnet system could work on a winter top cover for a bridge as well ???
    I would greatly apreciate your thoughts on this.

    Thanks, close-ups are better than looking at me talking! But seriously, when I'm trying to figure out what's going on technically in a video I want up close and personal.

    Hey thanks. Truth telling----I bought the Kevlar straps when my calculations showed that they'd bring the total weight under a pound. Has a nice ring to it.
    Of course, to really use hiking poles here one needs at a minimum some sort of tip like WarbonnetGuy sells, and including that pushes the 'required' weight over a pound.
    But the principle of using lighter-than-1.9 fabric, cord on the suspension, and a half-net will bring the packing weight down nicely low.

    Hey Zilla, should work just fine. If the wind was up enough to threaten to get in under a magnet-retained flap and pull it loose, you'd be under a tarp anyway....or should be!
    These are pretty strong magnets, that wind would have to be pretty strong.
