    Cinch Buckles on a Hennessy

Hi Forum members. I'm new to the forum. Been hammock camping a little over a year now. I have a Hennessy Deluxe hammock which I just switched over from the stock ropes to Arrowhead Equipment straps and their cinch buckles.

I'm liking the way it all works. Much better setup and adjustment however, just today I came across some older threads about straps like these binding and failing. I understand that its important to make sure the straps lay flat through the buckles but what is the longevity of these? Wondering if I jumped the gun on switching them over.

ps - If I do switch back, my HH has the newer loop under the end covers vs the older style where there were two melted holes and a more complex wrapping/knot. Does anyone know what knot was on there with the newer style? I untied it quickly and forgot to take note. I think its a simple bowline.

Nah, you're fine. The majority of Warbonnet and lots of other hammocks are using a cinch buckle type setup. I really hated those ropes on the Hennessy. That's why both of mine have been converted to whoopies.

I like the concept a lot. I was digging the simplicity of the HH rope lashing but adjusting for height and left and right placement of the hammock was becoming a burden. Hope I don't run into trouble with these straps.

I like cinch and straps. Talking to Dutch once; he said he like the simplicity of cinch and straps.
I found to like them better than whoopies. Found I fiddled more with them than straps.
Change em' out, I think you will like it!

I still have and use the very first set of straps we made....over 7 years ago. Don't tie a slipped backup, our buckles do not need them. And of course we stand behind our products. I have only ever replaced one or maybe two sets of straps, but we take care of our customers.

These are the straps and buckle system I use. Good stuff.

With Paul's (AHE) system, It would be easy to change out; larks head the buckles amsteel to the loop and thread the strap through the buckles. No more simpler than that!

I put buckles on my sons Ultrilite backpacker from Hennessy. it was just that easy, larks headed the amsteel loop to the ends of the hammock and they stay with it. He is using 15' straps and having no problems. says its the best and fastest way he has ever hung his hammock.
going to switch out some of the other scouts in our troop to the same setup as it is very user friendly.
