Well... It doesnt come loose from the tail.

Its the working end that wants to creep down and loosen up the wraps. Im afraid if it does this enough times it will come undone.

But.. Now that I think about it... That may be a workable solution. If you can prevent the tail from getting shorter, then the wraps can loosen as much as they want.

Yes... I think that would work. Good job Captn.

I also think another wrap wouldnt hurt.

I'm not good enough with knots to know what adding a turn to a sheet bend would do .... it would be what, a triple sheet bend?

I'd be interested to know how it worked out ...

I'm buying supplies for one of Headchange4U's HH clones and I'm thinking of using a Double sheetbend to attach the Whoopie Slings to the fabric body.

I'm experimenting to see how light I can get this and still be comfy and safe. I'd like to be under a pound for a 10 footer, with bugnet and Whoopies.

Why not switch from whoopies to a UCR?

I hear some guys are getting away with 8-10" buries as long as they back up the tail end of the constrictor with shock cord or a prusik.

Ive got a custom set of UCR's that are waiting on the red zing-it. What Im going to do is do a fixed eye on the tail of the constrictor. Then Im going to use the red 1.75mm zing it to create a continuous loop, prusik that to the main line of the UCR and build it into the fixed eye on the tail of the constrictor.

When you get the proper hang with the UCR, pull the prusik tight and you have effectively back up the UCR. Frawg, I believe, was the one that spawned this development.

Other than saving you the effort of having to make one fixed eye, why bother.

The fixed eye version is secure, removable and can be used on other types of hammocks.

Of course it's probably just a case of "inquiring minds want to know."

    I agree.

    Simple. Safe. Peace of mind.

I really just wanted to see if the Amsteel would "lock." It did somewhat... But not like a cord with a rougher surface.

Interesting ... you could probably cut another ounce out of the suspension that way?

I'm anxious to find out what the weights are by comparison.
