Hanging my UQ under my NX-270

Here is a great way to position an UQ under the NX-270...as long as your UQ has the same tabs. I have a HG 20 degree Incubator that has 4 loops - one near each corner and attach it to the hammock with small biners as the NX-270 has tabs also right under the pole sleeves to make the connection. Great insulation on each side with no reaching out to have to adjust the UQ during the night - stays right in place!

Either the incubator is rather slim or this looks to be hanging very loosely. Have you actually tested this in temperatures low enough for the need of a UQ ?

With my -15C underquilt on my NX-250, I'd be freezing my arse off if it hung this loose, even in +10C temperatures, I'm sure.

It was just hanging loosely - I had just attached it to the hammock so I could get a picture of how I use the biners to attach the UQ. Once I climbed in, it all smoothed out. I have used it in this configuration down to 45 degrees so far (I didn't get my Clark until after winter was gone) and I was very cozy & warm. No cold spots.

Right now there are 2 biners at each corner - this allows a little air in for warmer temp use. Didn't want to roast! Once Old Man Winter returns, I'll only use 1 small biner at each corner and it will snug it up even more.

I knotted 6" of shock cord to each of the NX guy out loops at the pole pockets, threaded a mitten hook and a spring loaded toggle onto each shock cord, then knotted the cords. The mitten hooks fasten to small triangle rings on grosgain tabs sewn into the top seam on each side near the head and foot of my 20° FL UGQ UQ. I snug the hooks up the shock cord to the hammock with the toggles.

I am planning to add one or two more mitten hooks to each side of the hammock where the hoods are sewn to the hammock bed to clip to the UQ's main shock cord suspension out beyond the pole pockets to get the benefit of the full length quilt with a good seal.

This makes good sense I was going to suggest using only one biner, but you're already on top of things I see

Here's a pic of an attachment at the foot end

    Slugger,

I'm assuming your running a 78" standard Incubator... How hard do you think it would be to get that UQ to tighten up around the ends of a NX-270 if it were one of their long 83" UQ's?
