Has any progress been made on sock-tarp hybrids yet? I'm planning on making one out of CF this summer, so I'm trying to gather all the work that has been done in one place. Did I miss any posts?
- There was the original Dirigible
- I've seen a Sil Argon version
- Mac made one out of Silnylon
- There's also a flyingfish sock, but it requires two tieouts. I camp on rocky moss covered surfaces, so I don't want to deal with more pegs than necessary.
- HNO updated the original design - very elegant
- Here is the HNO airship once again
- I know about the CF dirigible blow out - but as far as I know, the wind caught her tarp like a sail. I'm planning on making a version with a minimal tarp that zips up into a completely enclosed sock to avoid this problem, and keep the weight down.
Does anyone have any tips for sewing/cutting patterns? I'm really nervous about messing up such an expensive project. I've worked with CF before, if that helps.
Also: Does anyone know why Hangnout placed the breathable CF on the top rather than underneath the hammock? I imagine this means he thinks that water is more likely to be absorbed before dripping off the bottom than it is to be pushed in by wind or rain force.
Does anyone sell this yet?
