Luckily I got the Doublenest so it's definitely wide enough to make up for that when I go to lay on the diagonal. I made my own 11' and even though it's much narrower than the DN, I find it to be a little more comfortable. Tall guys just need longer hammocks.
My first hammock is an ultra which GT claims to be 9'6". They must stretch it out with mules and measure from the tips of the S hooks. Mine measures 8'6" where it counts, at the channel. I'm 5'4" and the GT is much too short for me. But then the ultra is poly and the nano is nylon so...? Recent testing has determined that 11' is the minimum I'm comfortable in, regardless of fabric. That said, the OP is not me and could very well be happy as a clam. As others said, test test test, spending at least one night in it before you hit the trail. Don't be too quick to judge all hammocks by your experience with this one though. Good luck.

I'll agree, the Nano is really short. I'm 5'11" and wouldn't dream of anything that small. The width of only 4 ft. makes it especially difficult to get a good diagonal lay.

I stick with hammocks that are minimum 58" wide and 10.5' long. Anything shorter or narrower doesn't work for me.

Sorry, I read the ridge line wrong too. But +1 on the adjustable line.

Oh and that hammock is too short. If you have suspension already you can get a Dutch delivered for around $45

Well.....it's looking more and more like the nano is going to become the wife's hammock

We'll see how it fits when my suspension comes in

You could be very happy with it. If so, just don't ever try another.

Try the Nano out. You might like it. It will probably be too small though. Would make a great hammock for a day pack, just to use as a chair, or to lounge a while.

It also may be hard to fit your pad in the nano.

But welcome to the world of hammocks, hopefully your trip is fun, and you enjoy hammocking.

Every day is a good day.

Ha! If you guys could see me now! I'm hanging in this godforksaken hammock looking like a hot dog weiner crammed into a bun. The neighbors must think I have lost my mind

At least you tested it out at home before using it on a trip! It may have turned you off from hammocks for good! Look around for a 10-11', or make one yourself; gathered ends are dead simple, plus you get the satisfaction of using DIY gear
I may be dumb, but at least I'm ugly!

I've done so much, with so little, for so long, now I can do anything with nothing.

It's not peer pressure, it's just your turn.

Well like iRokk said, at least you tried it out. And at least your wife didn't buy HERSELF a nice hammock only to have it taken over (elbows hubby in ribs)

    Sorry to double post.

Give hammocks a chance. I look back on pics of my first ever backpacking trip as a 16yo so excited to have a car to get to the trailhead and think "what was I doing??" Ten years later, I don't need a day off after I get back just for sleeping bc I know I'm gonna sleep just as soundly in my hammock as I do in my bed. No more worrying about rolling up a drenched tent!
