    Hammock Chair Help

I have a get-together coming up and wanted to bring a couple hammock chairs for friends and family to use during the day. I purchased a $15 nylon hammock on Amazon. It's a 100" long x 57" wide rectangle with end channels. I'd like to cut it in half and sew channels on each of the cut ends which would make two chairs. I could use some recommendations on a comfortable chair length for an adult. I'll leave the width at 57". Not sure if I should make one a bit longer or just cut it in half. Each half would be about 48" long with the new channels. Did some searching but couldn't find much info. Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks for the input. Perhaps I should cut the width a bit.

I made a couple hammock chairs last summer that were about 52" long x 28" wide. They work OK, but a little larger would be ideal. Rather than cutting length and width off the existing hammock, could you cut the length to about 41" to get 2 chairs with a little left over fabric. Then use turn it 90 degrees and use the existing width (52") as the new length and roll hem to cut edge to give you about 40" width? Just an idea to think of how to maximize the material that you have available to work with.

Since you're already sewing, why not start with a blank canvas?? Get some hammock fabric from Dutch or Ripstop by the Roll and make the optimum size rather than trying to make what you have work. Send that hammock back to amazon, if possible, you'll be better off in the long run

I was looking for a quick and easy solution with minimum sewing. Starting with a blank is probably the best solution especially for the reason you mention. Thanks!

Thanks! It does help as I'm still deciding on dimensions.
