Need advice for a trip to Danielle Boone National Forest

Trying to plan a trip to the Danielle Boone. Looking to find a place I can hike in and spend a couple of days. The only problem is I want to bring my dog along and won't last long hiking up and down the side of a mountain. Looking for a short hike of a few miles, less then five would be great.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Are you meaning the Daniel Boone National Forest, perhaps, in Kentucky?

I found my dog there last May, a small puppy that had been dumped on a back road.

Anyway, one thing you might consider is the area around the Cumberland Falls State Park. Plenty of road access just about the distance you're looking for, and nice hike along the Cumberland River south of the Park.

There for a minute I thought he was talking about Dan's sister Danielle. No offense, just a little humor. We all make mistakes.
    There's no excuse for laziness...

but, if you find one, let me know.

Red river gorge is a good place to go. Everything from light rock climbing to short hikes to as far far as you want hikes.
Just watch where you put your hands and feet, it is home to some copperheads and even a few rattlesnake.
    Beautiful country though

+1 on Red River Gorge - Lots of various options. You can do backcountry camping, primitive camping or campground (Koomer Ridge). Just check the rules/regs - they're slightly different within RRG vs rest of DBNF.

Lots of options along the Sheltowee Trace too. Maybe Cumberland Falls toward Bark Camp shelter & back - Just not that there's no backcountry camping within the state park.

Another option further south would be something around Yahoo Falls or Blue Heron.

Buy a map pack from outrage GIS for Red River Gorge. It will show you all of the short little trips to take. If you plan on staying in the same spot for a couple of nights I suggest camping next to a creek.

Another option to consider is Big South Fork on the border of Tennessee/Kentucky. It is somewhat similar to the the Red River Gorge, but less crowded. I took a 2 night trip there this spring. Trails that follow streams / valleys seem to be more interesting than the ridge trails.
